Information about the Sonoma State online art history degree, registering in a technical degree program to develop job skills, and taking free practice tests online. You don't have to be enrolled in a degree program to sign up for online courses. Colleges that are offering online courses may use focused, group activities as part of their broader online learning program, incorporating the real-time presence of an instructor. Online education can open up the opportunity to take difficult courses that won't show up on your transcript, if you so choose. Alternatively, you can complete additional credits for a grade.

Design professionals enjoy an alternative lifestyle and unlimited earnings potential, ranging from creative design to commercial art. Even while you're still a student, you should think about earning a part-time income online. A few simple steps will help you start your own e-Commerce business. The easiest way to start is by authoring a daily blog, and monetize your traffic with Google Adsense. You can drive targeted visitors to your site at a reasonable cost by learning search engine optimization (SEO) techniques. You can also make money with affiliate programs, or charge monthly membership fees, if making certain types of Android OS websites. Just web page design and layout isn't enough, if no-one can find it in Google search results. You'll also need online marketing skills.

Online Courses - MOOCs

Sonoma State online art history degreeGraduates with bachelors degrees earn an average of 60% more than employees with only a high school diploma, which adds up to more than an $800,000 difference over a lifetime. Pursue your career interests, not high-paying starting salaries, and your overall job earnings will reflect the enthusiasm that you bring to your work, increasing over time as you gain business experience. If you focus your prospective degree choice on salary alone, there is the risk that you may suffer early signs of burnout, and be forced to change careers.

Technical training programs are a low-cost alternative to attending college, and you might end up earning a lot of money as a highly-skilled, technical consultant, or by starting your own small business. Massive Open Online Courses are known as MOOCs, and offer a variety of learning platforms, utilizing cloud-based software and Google apps.

An online degree may be just as marketable as a college degree earned on campus. Udemy online learning, a site which allows anyone to build (or take) online courses, is a new startup with backing from the founders of Groupon. Khan Academy now offers over 3,900 micro-lectures available via YouTube. Coursera, another online-learning software platform, has millions of enrolled students around the world. Through MIT Open Courseware online classes, educators can improve development of their curricula, making their instruction more effective.

Graphic Design Jobs

Students will impress future bosses more with an impressive portfolio than an advanced degree. Practice your skills in website design for local companies while still a student. A bachelors degree in graphic design or a related field is usually required for jobs in this field. Candidates should demonstrate their creativity through a professional portfolio that features their best designs. Art directors are responsible for the layout of pages, and design of images in magazines, newspapers, product packaging, and movies. They create the overall 'look' of a work, and also manage teams of assistants, who carry out their commands.

Graphic designers create visual concepts, by hand or using computer software, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate consumers. They help to make an organization recognizable by selecting color, images, or logo designs that represent a particular idea or identity to be used in advertising and promotions. About 29 percent of graphic designers are self-employed, and work as freelance commercial artists.

Advanced Placement (AP) Exams

Advanced Placement exams are offered in a variety of physical sciences, offering you college credit for honors-level classes that you have taken while still in high school. Test yourself with free practice exams online, before visiting the College Board website to register to take your actual AP Tests. If you earn a score of 3 or higher on an AP Exam, you may be able to receive course credits, or advanced placement, when you start college. You must request that the College Board send your official AP score report to the colleges of your choice, either at the time of testing or afterwards, through a score report request.

Business & Medical Job Listings

Although most jobs which pay six-figure salaries require a college degree, technical fields offer high salaries based more on ability than which school you graduated from. Students will impress future bosses more with an impressive portfolio than with an advanced degree, so practice your skills as a consultant for local companies. Candidates with prior industry experience are preferred by interviewers, so you resume must show a clear pattern of success over time, based on numeric results and personal achievements.
